Carbon-babbitt materials of the grades
-600-83, -1500-83, -1500-83

Are used to manufacture the parts of friction blocks (liquid- and gastight at high pressures) operating in the conditions of dry, semi-dry and liquid friction upon steady or smoothly changing load. For the parts made of the above said materials it is recommended to use cast iron, steel, chrome dressing as the countershank material; permissible specific pressure is 35-40 kgc/cm2; permissible speed is 10 m/s. Permissible working temperature upon exploitation of products made of the above materials in the oxidizing, reducing and neutral media is 230 C. Amount of wear at permissible specific pressures and speeds in the conditions of dry friction in the air at the indoor temperature for 100 hours of operation is not more than 30 mkm. Carbon-babbit materials are recommended to be used upon liquid and semi-liquid friction on all the stated materials, and upon dry friction on cast iron. Carbon-babbit materials are not recommended for the operation with nonferrous metals and their alloys. The advisable surface roughness of the counterpart should be Ra 0.12, State Standart 2789-73. It is possible upon agreement between a consumer and the manufacturer to supply moulds of other sizes as well as moulds in the way of sockets and rings:

Note. Intensive heat elimination is necessary upon exploitation of the said grades of materials in the mode of dry friction. The friction coefficient of the above materials is within the scope of 0.7 to 0.15 in case of operation in the mode of dry friction.
